I am still breastfeeding, but I have had to start supplementing with 1 bottle of formula a couple days/ week. We introduced plums and pears this month. The plums were bitter so you didn’t like them, but you did like the pears. I have added a third meal of solids to your diet. So, now you nurse/take a bottle 5 times/day (7:30, 10:30, 1:30, 4:00, 6:30 pm) and you have oatmeal and fruit around 8:30, veggies and fruit around 12, and rice/grain and veggie around 5:30. I am still making your food and am going to be adding meat and proteins to the menu this next month. We just found out that you are anemic a couple of days ago so I hope that by adding meats to your diet, this will help bring up your iron count.
You are wearing some 3-6 months and 6 months.
You are still wearing size 2 diapers full time, day and night. You ran out of your last case of size 2’s, but I wasn’t quite ready to start you in the 3’s since you have not yet grown out of the two’s. I have purchased more 2’s, but in a lesser quantity. After these run out, we will move on up to the 3’s.
You continue to be more alert each and every day. You are finally sitting up. You seem to prefer to be on your stomach now that you have become mobile. You have mastered the army crawl. You are getting up on all fours and rock back and forth and then you ooch your way forward. You are so close to crawling. The second I put you down you take off. If this year wasn’t leap year, then you would have turned 8 mos yesterday and yesterday you were the most mobile/ancie than you ever have been.
You have started sitting up in your bathtub. Yes, the baby days are over. You are growing and changing so much everyday. I moved you to a high chair this month. You weren’t sitting up on your own yet, but I gave it a whirl and it is great.
You came down with your second and third ear infection’s this month. Things have been pretty much like clockwork. I notice that you start getting needy at night and you want to sleep with us. So, we have started allowing you to sleep in bed with us on occasion. It is just the easiest thing for all of us (except I don’t sleep so well since you slowly push me off the bed J) Within 24 hrs you get a fever. We go to the Dr and get you on antibiotics. Within about 1 week of finishing your antibiotic, the cycle repeats itself. Your dad and I started wondering if tubes were the right answer, but thankfully I have started taking you to a new Pediatrician. We LOVE her! Once she learned that you had been on Zantac for reflux, she honed in on that and said that there is a correlation between reflux and Ear infections. So, hopefully by treating the reflux, we will bring a halt to the ear infections…thus you are back on the Zantac. I fought forever to get you off of that stuff, and here we are again. Poor guy. So, now you are on Zyrtec, Zantac, multivitamin, Antibiotic, and an Iron Supplement. I am creating a checklist to keep up with everything I have to give you. Along with that, since we have had you on Zyrtec for about 2 weeks now, you are still coughing and have a bit of a crusty/dirty nose. Your Ped thinks it is possible that you could have a milk allergy thus causing you problems with the Formula so we are switching over to a Hyper-Allergenic formula. I have heard this stuff doesn’t taste like the milk or soy based formulas so I will be anxious to see how you take it.
You still have not cut any teeth yet. I’m convinced that you will overcome an ear infection and immediately start teething (that would be our luck anyway J )
With the exception of the lowsy sleep due to your ear infections, when you are feeling good, you are still a pretty good sleeper. I put you down around 6:30-7:00 and you sleep until 7am.
I want you to know what a joy it is to have you in our lives. I’m still surprised when I see myself holding you in a mirror. Your dad and I both feel so blessed and couldn’t imagine life without you.
