First Haircut

This week has been a bit hard on this momma. Lucas is growing up so quickly and it just seems to be happening all at once.  Just a few weeks shy of turning one and things seem to be changing so much. In the past week, we have lowered his crib to the lowest point, moved to the convertible car seat, moved to the toddler room at school, and he got his first haircut.

I had been putting off his first haircut for a while now. Doug has been wanting to get it cut because it was really starting to look shaggy, but I kept putting it off. I knew that once he had his first cut, the “baby” would be gone and I just wasn’t ready for that. Doug didn’t seem to understand. In his mind, if your hair gets long, you cut it and it won’t change his age. We tried to get it cut last week, but to no avail we couldn’t make it happen so yesterday, was the big day.

We went to Groovy Cuts for Kids. I had no idea how Lucas would react to getting his hair cut so we went to a local kids salon. It was really cute inside with a boys and girls section. On the boys side, you could sit in a off road jeep or a police car. Lucas chose the Police Car. They had a 1st haircut package where they take a before/after shot, keep the locks of hair, and they issue a certificate 🙂 It was kind of overpriced and silly, but I was really having a touch time with getting this done so I figured we should at least celebrate it 🙂

This is the Before version taken by the stylist – I’m thinking they need a new camera b/c the pics I took with my phone were quite a bit better.

AFTER

Doug even took a video to capture the “Moment”. Just a warning that it is a bit long.
