Like a good neighbor

Saturday night Doug and I were sitting on our new patio eating dinner when our neighbor walked up to the back gate with a pickle sized bucket full of tomatoes from his garden wanting to share the wealth and excess of his garden.

We live on a small street where most homes are on acre lots. A few homes have vegetable gardens but nothing like his neighbor two doors down. His garden is about 1/3 acre. Doug and I always look upon it with fondness ad inspiration. We really want to have our own garden ad built our own box garden this yr ( i know, why have a small box garden when you have soo much space? baby steps. We wanted to start small and make sure we could handle that before going bigger. Good
Thing because we built the box and partially filled it with soil, and did nothing else.)

Anyway, so we filled an entire veggie drawer in our outside fridge with tomatoes and then our neighbor came back with a huge bag of different types of squash. So we are going to can some tomatoes, make homemade salsa, and learn how to make lots of squash dishes.

What are your favorite squash recipes?
